In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with clause (b) of the Explanation to section 35AC of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the Central Government on the recommendations of the National Committee hereby enhance the cost for meeting running expenses to the tune of Rs. 6.00 lakhs per annum and amends the notification of Government of India, Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) Number S.O. 193(E) dated the 14th March, 1996 [published at (1996) 131 CTR (St) 37] as follows, namely :

In the said notification, in the Table against serial number 14 relating to Indian Medical Centre, Madras (Chennai), in column (4) relating to project or scheme and estimated cost thereof, for the words and figures Rs. 150.78 lakhs, the words and figures Rs. 162.78 lakhs shall be substituted.

This notification shall remain in force for a further period of two years beginning with assessment year 2000-2001.
