Registration of Taxpayer on e-Filing Website

Before taxpayers start registration, ensure the following details should be hand-in-hand.

  1. Valid PAN
  2. Valid Current Address
  3. Valid Current Address
  4. Valid Email Address, preferably your own, and
  5. Date of birth.

Perform the following steps to register as an 'Individual User'

  1. Click on 'Register' button located at right side of the Home Page.
  2. Click on 'Taxpayer' button.
  3. Enter valid PAN and click on 'validate button'
  4. Select Yes on “Please confirm if you want to register as 'Individual Tax payer” and click on “Continue” button.
  5. Provide the following basic details:
    • Last Name, Middle Name and First Name
    • Date of birth
    • Select Residential Status as Resident or Non-Resident.
    • Gender (Select from Male/Female and transgender)
  6. Click on 'Continue'
  7. Fill in the following mandatory details:
    • Enter Primary Mobile Number and Primary E-mail id
    • Enter Postal Address Details
    • Click on 'Continue'
  8. For Residents, a six digit Mobile OTP and Email OTP will be shared on your mobile number and email ID, specified at the time of registration. For Non-residents, OTP will be shared on your primary email ID, specified at the time of registration. Click on confirm button.
  9. Enter set password, enter confirm password and enter 'set on personalized message and click on “Register” button
  10. Confirmation mail will be sent on mail id and SMS will be sent on mobile number.
