File Validation Utility

Since FY 2003-04, all corporate deductors should file Income tax returns for deduction of tax at source (TDS) only in electronic form. Further, from FY 2004-05, in addition to corporate deductors, filing of TDS returns in electronic form is mandatory for government deductors also. The return can be filed either using Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) Return Preparation Utility or any other software.

1. Prepare the Statement either using Protean (formerly NSDL eGov) Return Preparation Utility or any other software;
2. Download the File Validation Utility (FVU) developed by Protean eGov Technologies Limited and freely available at Tax Information Network (TIN) website or ITD website, many software vendors provide the utility inbuilt in their softwares'
3. Validate the generated text file for statement (.txt format) through File Validation Utility
4. On successful validation .​fvu file will be generated
5. Generated .fvu file can either be submitted at TIN-FC or uploaded at https://www.protean-tinpan.com/ website
